Post-Trade Automation You Can Trust: Meet VAKT

Who we are

VAKT is the intelligent middleware for physical post-trade. We take the data that post-trade runs on, in whatever form it arrives, and turn it into structured information that teams and AI agents can act on. That is our view of post-trade automation: trusted data first, then AI.

That data rarely arrives neatly. The teams we help deal with post-trade data received from every direction and in every format. VAKT connects through APIs and native email, and uses a combination of systemic data mapping and AI to structure unstructured data. We are not tied to one mode of transport, one format or one commodity. If it is post-trade data, we can take it in and give it structure.

But structuring data is only the start. Structured data is not the same as trusted data. VAKT goes beyond structuring information: we validate it against other sources, identify discrepancies and enable reconciliation across systems and counterparties. That establishes a reliable foundation for downstream operational processes and decision-making.

On that foundation sit our three products: vSure for trade confirmations and deal entry validation, vLogistics for nominations and scheduling, and vActuals for all true up data and invoicing. Alongside them runs our agentic AI platform of eight specialised agents.

As we put it at our Post Trade 2030 webinar: VAKT isn't just using AI. We have built a system that is artificially intelligent.

‍

Where we come from

VAKT was founded in 2018 by a group of oil majors, traders and trade finance providers. They shared a problem. Physical post-trade relied on manual, complex, repetitive and error-prone processes, much of it slow and paper-based, and open to loss, delay and error.

Rather than each firm fixing that alone, the founders set out to fix it together, on shared infrastructure that counterparties could all connect to.

That origin still shapes us. VAKT was built from the start by and for the companies that run post-trade, not designed from the outside and sold in.

‍

Where we are today in post-trade automation

Today we work alongside ETRMs as an operational engine, fuelling businesses with fully structured and reconciled data across the post-trade lifecycle. With VAKT, oil companies and traders can reduce operational admin and the burden of manually updating systems, and streamline operations so that moving from trade to settlement is as frictionless as possible. Connected systems are updated automatically with the latest agreed details, so manual keying goes away.

That is how we cut noise across the industry. There are fewer copies of the truth and fewer hand-keyed errors. Discrepancies in trade terms are flagged and resolved before they flow into hedging, contracts and invoicing.

We do this alongside the industry, not apart from it. We work with oil traders, majors, inspectors and terminals on standardised reference data for traded products.

‍

Why we are trusted with AI in post-trade

For many teams, the hesitation about automating any process is about trust. Where does our commercial data go? Who can see it? Who has checked the controls? Those questions have to be answered before any AI touches a trade. VAKT builds security into its services at every layer.

That trust is already demonstrated in practice, with leading oil majors and trading houses relying on VAKT for their day-to-day post-trade operations.

That is the foundation everything else in this series builds on. Trustworthy AI requires more than secure infrastructure. It depends on reliable, validated data, traceable outputs and appropriate controls over how that information is used.
